“Damian offers a personal experience that is so much more than just a photoshoot. He is thoughtful about every shot he takes…”

MEET THE CURATOR
Hey friends, Damian here from Curator Photography. I’m so honoured you’d even visit my website and I can’t wait to meet you properly.
I’m a professional wedding photographer in Cape Town and a pastor too. I’m passionate about all things art and travel, nerdy about human development and a little obsessed with coffee. For as long as I can remember, I’ve dreamt of creating things that connect with people, helping them to see themselves as loved. It’s what makes me feel whole – and I’m so grateful I have these ways of doing this kind of meaningful work.
A Curator is an artist of experience. The word “Curator” itself comes from an old French noun for the priests who were the contemporary doctors in the Middle Ages. They were trusted men and women who out of their wonderment for God, gathered and worked with things that brought healing to whole communities. This imagery resonates with me deeply, and speaks to the kind of experience I want to offer with Curator Photography.
MY APPROACH TO PHOTOGRAPHY…
The Curator Manifesto
To Create Soul-soaked Imagery
“I believe photography at its best is an experience, not just the production of images. The kind of imagery I’m after carries “soul” – things like deep emotion and the energy of the moment, things like laughter, joyful tears and everything you feel when you stare into the eyes of your partner. The stuff that normally makes us vulnerable, but here in love it makes us feel known and loved. I want my art to make people feel loved.“
“To do this I know I need to create a safe place for my clients. I need to get to know them and earn their trust, so they’re brave enough to show their vulnerabilities – it is the key to beautiful things.“
“Creating beautiful things that help people to see how loved they are – that is why I’m here. It transforms and heals us. It’s what God has always called me to offer the world. I can feel it when I’m busy, when I see the photos, when preparing, when I’m connecting with the clients and hearing their stories. I can feel it as I watch their faces when they see their photos, and when they look at each other directly after. It makes me feel alive. It makes me feel whole.”
“So this is it, what Curator Photography will be: an experience of love with photographs as proof. A process of trust building and witnessing to love. May it bring wonder and light to the deepest parts of ourselves that long to know we’re seen, safe and loved.“
