Aiichiro and Maho’s Elopement in Cape Town
Documented on digital and film photography
Seapoint, Cape Town
An etheral elopment around Sea Point
While Japan is well regarded as one of the most photogenic locations in the world, Aiichiro and Maho decided that Cape Town was better suited to their wedding vision.
We’ve all had the thought to ditch the traditional wedding expenses and drama by eloping to a foreign country. This kind couple did just that! Aiichiro and Maho got legally married in court in Tokoyo but decided to celebrate their marriage with a trip to Cape Town. They asked me to join them for a day to capture some of this happy memory as they had no wedding images.
So i met Maho and Aiichiro, all dressed up at their hotel in Seapoint. We captured some frames in the beautifully lit studio apartment and then made our way up to Signal Hill. We were lucky with soft afternoon light and some threats of rain, which yielded incredibly dramatic photos. The clouds really helped to shield some of the sun’s intensity. We then made our way back to the Sea Point promenade, where we enjoyed the sunset together.
Thank you, Aiichiro and Maho – getting to curate wedding images for you remains one of my happiest memories.
The Details
When you open your album years later, you’ll find yourself noticing things you might have missed in the excitement of the event—perhaps the way the light glinted off your wedding band or the tiny tears of joy in your parents’ eyes. These subtle, yet meaningful moments are often overshadowed by the big-picture memories, but they are what make your wedding truly unique.
