A mountainside destination wedding at Cherry Glamping in Elgin, South Africa
There’s something rather special about a mountain wedding. Perhaps it’s the sense of distance from the everyday, or the way the landscape seems to slow everything down a little. Whatever it is, Cherry Glamping in Elgin makes a beautiful setting for couples looking to celebrate their marriage surrounded by nature.
Tina and Bruno gathered their closest friends and family for an intimate celebration in the Elgin Valley. With the mountains stretching out beyond the venue and pine trees framing the ceremony space, it was a lovely setting for a day centred on the people who matter most.
The ceremony took place in the pine chapel, tucked among the trees, before everyone made their way to the glass house for the reception. The transition between the two spaces gave the day a natural rhythm, moving from the quiet of the ceremony into the warmth and energy of the celebration.
One of the things I loved about Cherry Glamping was the way the landscape became part of the experience. Set along the gentle slopes of the valley, the venue offers sweeping mountain views, open skies, and the occasional zebra wandering through the scenery. It’s a wonderful choice for a mountain wedding that feels connected to nature while still offering beautiful spaces to gather and celebrate.
The light was beautiful throughout the day, allowing us to make photographs that brought together the surrounding landscape and the smaller moments unfolding between guests. There’s something particularly rewarding about photographing a wedding in a setting like this, where the scenery offers so much without ever needing to compete with the people at the heart of it.
As the celebrations continued, Tina and Bruno shared a Serbian folk dance with their bridal party. It was a joyful moment that brought everyone together and added a lovely sense of occasion to the reception.
