The poetic and intentional
use of natural light
Being able to make the most of natural light is a photography superpower. One of the downfalls of the iPhone era is that we are tricked into assuming all light is the same. Intuitively, though, we know this is not true. There’s a reason why golden hour has been the favoured time of day for photography for years. But it goes much deeper than that. How light wraps around subjects, light intensity, how it carries colour, how angles and windows affect it as well as how cameras interpret light are just some of the factors in taking beautiful photos. For me, this is the bread and butter of being a proessional photographer. Being intentional with light to create visually poetic images is what I strive to be known for.
Emotive Black & Whites
I love a good black and white image. To me, the removal of colour draws deeper attention to what is happening in a photo. Texture, emotion and the subtle shifts in light stand out more and therefore become weightier with story. Used conservatively and intentionally within a full colour gallery, these images contrast and draw your eye.
The perfect blend
between editorial and candid
Do you want candid images of your loved ones so raw with emotion they’re tangible? Or do you want to be directed so you’re feeling confident in all your images? While the photography world will have you think it’s either or, I believe both approaches are possible. I work hard to strike a balance between authentic and artistic.
An analogue approach to weddings
I want to approach your wedding with intention – and film photography is the perfect medium for this. The skill it demands, and the magic it carries allows its images to yield deeper authenticity and artististry.
I’m lucky enough to have access to 35mm and 120mm cameras that I use for weddings. I also work alongside Josie Stadler – my partner and fellow professional photographer who specialises in film photography – to offer film exclusive packages.
