Wedding imagery for the creative romantic at Plaisir

Plaisir Wine Estate is a place where the natural beauty and heritage of Franschhoek collide. Set among cape vineyards at the foot of the Simonsberg Mountains, the estate has a rare sense of both openness and intimacy. Plasir brings together new and old design in an interesting and intentional way, making it a dream for elevated winefarm wedding photos.

The estate’s approach to design pairs effortlessly with my hybrid use of digital and film photography. Each medium used together lends itself to creative but honest wedding imagery. If you’re wanting a combination of editorial and documentary photography, please reach out – I’d love to hear from you and capture your wedding.

Three reasons why I love shooting weddings at Plaisir.

The Tributary is Plaisir’s dedicated wedding space. This contemporary venue is set within the gardens of the estate and designed for a sense of uninterrupted flow between outside and inside. The building itself ushers a sense of occasion without demanding formality. This means it gives weddings space to breathe and become their own as people move organically. Approaching wedding photography at the Tributary with a documentary eye, I can capture candid images of people interacting and enjoying the day unobtrusively.

Immediately around the Tributary are acres of open space, backdropped by the Franschoek and Simonsberg mountains. Because of this, Plaisir offers an opportunity for wedding photography that works cinematically with light and angles – something not always possible with wedding venues.

There was one shoot in particular that I loved, where the light faded to a soft purple against the mountains. Getting to capture wedding photography at Plaisir is a treat.

One of my favourite things about photographing weddings at Plaisir is working with the tension between designed and natural beauty. This contrast easily creates moments of artistic and editorial wedding imagery. The textures, lines and patterns of older spaces can sit alongside cleaner contemporary architecture, while the surrounding landscape softens both. It means the photographs can move between something timeless and something distinctive.
