Bold and cinematic wedding imagery at La Roche – a secluded estate high in the mountains above Franschoek, South Africa.
Wedding photography at La Roche Estate
La Roche can only be described as a luxuary estate, hidden high above Franschoek in South Africa. The glamourous buildings and grounds yield imagery that’s bold and proud. It’s truely an incredible venue, brimming with cinematic potential.
I recently got to be part of a large styled shoot at La Roche. I couldn’t help but drag my jaw along the floor as I drove up into the snow-sprinkled mountains and then onto the estate. Stately buildings, light-filled halls, secret gardens and an island chapel. These were the locations waiting for me (and you!).
We shot preperation in the manor house, using the high ceilings and rooftop to create cinematic angles. We then moved into the festive hall for reception photos and details. I took our couples outside into the secret garden behind the manor house for some couple images. The stone archway and blooming apricot flowers were incredible! Then lastly, we shot ceremony work at the sanctuary – the island chapel. A highlight was capturing the brave brides walking in the freezing water at the sanctuary as well as the emotive champagne tower.
Weddings at La Roche estate will undoubtledy be grand and bold. The grounds and scenery infuse the imagery will luxuary and an emotional depth. Because of this, I think it’s a venue that lends itself to editorial or cinematic styles of photography. Personally, I would be excited to creatively convey your story using the different spaces.
